On 20 May 2026, a group of students enrolled in the Faculty of Economic Sciences<\/a> – <\/strong>International Affairs of the University in Oradea paid a visit to the Secretariat of the Danube Commission. At the initiative of Lect. univ. dr. Adrian Negrea, this study trip marked the first occasion for Romanian students to visit the DC headquarters.<\/p>\n

The DC Secretariat presented the organization\u2019s activities, structure, and responsibilities, as well as a brief historical overview of the international institutions that have had the river Danube as their scope. Given the specialization of the students in international economic affairs, the discussions focused on several sectors of the Danube shipping market and the importance of the inland waterway transport in the European economy.<\/p>\n

The visiting students showed interest in issues such as the development of navigation, fairway maintenance, the impact of climate change on Danube navigation, as well as the economic importance of the TEN-T Rhine-Danube Core Corridor.<\/p>\n

The representatives of the University of Oradea conveyed their appreciation for the opportunity to visit the DC and discuss directly to the experts of the organization, expressing their openness to future collaboration in welcoming students of Romanian universities at the DC headquarters.<\/p>\n
