JOB ANNOUNCEMENT COUNCILLOR FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

at the DANUBE COMMISSION

(Budapest)

The Danube Commission (DC), an international organisation based in Budapest, announces that the position of “Councillor for international cooperation and public relations ” will become vacant on 1 July 2026. The selection process will take place between September and December 2025.

Your responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director General, you will be responsible for the international cooperation and public relations of the Danube Commission, as well as for the preparation of the necessary documents concerning the participation of the Danube Commission in international cooperation. Your tasks will include:

  • Representing the Secretariat of the Commission in accordance with the mandate received from the Director General; maintaining permanent contact with the authorities of the member states, international organisations and other stakeholders; preparing proposals, information, reports and publications, within the framework of its competences.
  • Organising publishing activities of the Danube Commission in interaction with the Deputy Director General, the Chief Engineer and the relevant
  • Involvement in the process of developing, coordinating and implementing international projects of the Danube
  • Coordination of the interpretation services of the Danube Commission, ensuring the completion of work related to translation, including simultaneous interpretation, drafting, typing, printing, and also assuming responsibility for the processing of documents for meetings and sessions.
  • Liaising with the media outlets, preparing materials for the leadership of both the Danube Commission and the Secretariat, for all media related activities such as interviews, press statements, and conferences
  • Coordination of the public relations of the organisation, including the updating of the Danube Commission’s
  • Within the scope of its competences, performs other tasks of the DC Secretariat, as well as the instructions of  its leadership.

Our requirements:

  • University degree or diploma from a relevant university, preferably in the field of international relations or political / administrative / communication sciences.
  • Thorough knowledge of the management and administrative aspects of international organisations, including international cooperation issues.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and knowledge of one of the official languages of the Danube Commission obligatory.
  • High degree of teamwork, initiative and motivation.

We offer:

  • Work in an international team with the diplomatic privileges of an international organisation.
  • A monthly basic salary of at least €4,318 net.
  • Additional allowances, e.g. housing allowance and family allowance as specified in the Rules of Procedure of the Danube Commission.

The term of office runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030 and may be extended for a further four years.
