On 29 October 2025, the General Director of the Danube Commission Secretariat, Mr Manfred Seitz, participated in the Symposium celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the CESNI Committee, which was organized in Rotterdam (NL)

The meeting addressed the key challenges for inland waterway transport (IWT) and waterway management, as well as international governance and cooperation on IWT in a broader European perspective, including the Danube Region.

Mr Manfred Seitz presented the latest DC activities aimed at ensuring good navigation status on the Danube, which include supporting waterway infrastructure improvements, reducing administrative barriers, and fostering the digitalization of the sector. The greening of the Danube Fleet as part of the energy transition is a priority for the DC, with dedicated initiatives and several activities organized in November 2025.

The representative of the DC expressed his appreciation to the CCNR for the close cooperation between the two river commissions, pledging a more effective contribution of the Danube Commission towards developing CESNI standards and advocating their implementation in the Danube countries.
