Application deadline extended for the positions that will become vacant in the Danube Commission Secretariat as of 1 July 2027

The Danube Commission, an international organisation based in Budapest, announces the extension of the application period for two management positions and five posts of counsellors with technical expertise that will become vacant in the Danube Commission Secretariat as of 1 July 2027. The selection process will take place between July and December 2026.

The positions for the Director-General and the Chief Engineer require extensive professional experience in inland navigation, a high level of self-motivation, strong leadership skills to manage daily operations, supervise staff, and to foster a positive, productive organizational culture.

The call for Counsellors’ applications is directed at dynamic senior inland navigation experts, with extensive professional expertise in one of the five technical areas of activity of the Danube Commission as well as a high degree of initiative and teamwork spirit:

  • Hydrotechnical and hydrometeorological matters
  • Nautical matters
  • Professional qualifications, vessel crew qualification, education and training matters
  • Inland navigation vessels (technical matters)
  • Inland waterway transport, port development and environmental matters

A good command of written and spoken English and knowledge of one of the official languages of the Danube Commission is obligatory. For details see our website: vacancies in DC Secretariat

We offer:

  • Work in an international environment with the diplomatic privileges of an international organisation.
  • The term of office runs from 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2031 and may be extended for an additional four years
