105th session of the Danube Commission

On 11 June 2026, the Danube Commission (DC) convened for its 105th session in Budapest, under the presidency of the Representative of Bulgaria to the Danube Commission, H.E. Mr. Ambassador Christo Polendakov.

Delegations were provided with information on the violations of the Belgrade Convention in connection with Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine from the affected member states, including the latest submissions for the Register of Damage in the Lower Danube Region caused by Russian Military Actions.

The Preparatory Committee reported on the status of revision of the Convention regarding the regime of navigation on the Danube, informing the Commission of the proposal to suspend the activity of the Committee.

As part of the international cooperation of the DC, delegations were briefed on the DC Secretariat’s participation in various meetings of international organisations, EU-funded projects, and ITW initiatives, and welcomed the contributions of the CCNR and EC (DG MOVE) representatives participating in the meeting. Current technical, legal, and financial aspects of the Commission’s activity were discussed by the delegations (reports of its standing working groups, audit and execution report for the 2025 budget).

In the context of the organisation’s reform process, the recruitment procedure for the seven members of the Danube Commission Secretariat was initiated; the call for applications is open until 10 July 2026.
