DC SEC participates in the 70th Anniversary Conference of EAEMDR in Ruse

21 October 2026 | Ruse, Bulgaria — Manfred Seitz, Director-General of the DC Secretariat, participated in the international conference “Challenges and Perspectives for the Development of Navigation on the Danube River”, organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (EAEMDR). The event opened with welcoming remarks delivered by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the DC, H.E. Christo Polendakov.

During the opening panel, Mr. Seitz joined European Coordinator Margarida Marques to discuss the strategic priorities for Danube navigation, focusing on year-round navigability, climate change adaptation, targeted infrastructure investment, and shifting from strategy to action over the next five years.

Participants also explored ways to improve cross-border cooperation, advance infrastructure projects and make better use of digital tools to address the Danube’s navigation challenges.
