Register of Damage in the Lower Danube Region caused by Russian Military Actions

Pursuant to the Danube Commission’s competence in accordance with Article 8 of the Convention regarding the Regime of Navigation on the Danube (Belgrade 1948), the 104th session of the Danube Commission decided to establish a Register of Damage to collect data on the military actions of the Russian Federation that systematically impede free and safe navigation in the Lower Danube region (decision DC/104/CP/1f/1).

The Register of Damage refers to numerous established accounts of the Russian Federation’s (RF) military attacks in the lower Danube region, which endanger and harm Danube navigation according to Article 3 of the Belgrade Convention.

The establishment of the Register of Damage was made with the desire to restore free and safe navigation on the Danube in accordance with the interests and sovereign rights of the Danube countries, as well as strengthening economic and cultural ties between the Danube countries and other countries.

The Danube Commission invites the affected Danube countries to provide the Secretariat, with verified information, on all damage caused by military attacks by the Russian Federation that impedes free and safe navigation in the lower Danube region.
