Press release Platina 3 kick-off meeting online – 8 february 2021

 

Manfred Seitz, the Director General of the Danube Commission Secretariat participated on 8 February 2021 together with several counsellors in the online kick-off meeting of the PLATINA 3 project (PLAtform for the implementaTIon of NAiades). Funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 programme, PLATINA 3 aims first at promoting inland waterways transport as a tool for implementing the EU Green Deal and second at contributing towards the transformation, through innovation and digitalization, of inland waterways transport in line with the objectives of reducing emissions from inland shipping. PLATINA 3 is the successor of the projects PLATINA and PLATINA II, which assisted the European Commission in implementing the previous European action programmes to support inland navigation (NAIADES I and II).

The project began in January 2021 and will end in June 2023.

During its 94th session (11 December 2020), the Danube Commission agreed to join the other 13 partners, among which the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine, in the PLATINA 3 project.
